founding AI researcher

As a founding AI researcher at Buildbox Labs, you’ll help turn practical scientific experience into datasets and environments that make AI more useful in the physical sciences. You’ll work closely with scientists to understand where models struggle: choosing a calculation, using specialized software, interpreting measurements, or deciding what to try when the evidence is inconclusive. Your work will shape both the research questions we pursue and how we measure progress.

Day to day, you’ll reproduce scientific workflows, build tasks grounded in real research, and run experiments with models to understand their failure modes. You’ll write code, inspect model outputs, and develop feedback and evaluations that distinguish a convincing answer from a scientifically sound result. You’ll move between conversations with domain experts and hands-on experimentation, documenting what works, what fails, and what we should investigate next.
